A maximum of 4 questions can be asked during the exam, however, the test is more accurate with fewer questions. The questions must be very specific and cannot have "and/or” in the wording. All of the questions must relate to a single issue (e.g., fidelity, stealing, child abuse, etc.). The questions must be based on a specific act that someone did or did not do. No thoughts, opinions, or intentions can be covered in the questions.
In-office private and attorney exams are $600.00. All private and attorney exams require a non-refundable reservation fee (deposit) of $300.00 to hold your appointment time. The balance of $300.00 is due at the time of the appointment. The exam is by appointment only and conducted at our office. We can travel in certain instances if an office is available for us to conduct the exam; however, travel costs will be added to the fee. Exams will not be performed in private residences.
A "no show" is considered 15 minutes past the appointment time. A one-time reschedule is permitted. If the exam is cancelled or the examinee fails to arrive for the appointment at the scheduled time, the entire reservation fee will be forfeited.
All deposits are non-refundable. Exams must be scheduled within 30 days of receipt of the deposit. The remainder of the exam fee will be due in cash, cashier’s check, or credit card at the time of the examination. If the full exam fee is paid before the exam and the exam is cancelled, $300.00 will be retained as the reservation fee (deposit) and a $50.00 processing fee.
Research reveals that polygraph exams have a confidence interval up to 94% (Gougler, et al., 2011). However, we suggest doing your own research on the validity and reliability. For additional information on polygraph, visit the American Polygraph Association (APA) website and American Association of Police Polygraphists (AAPP) website.
Specific results (e.g., No Deception Indicated/Deception Indicated) are not guaranteed. There are possibilities for Inconclusive and No Opinion results. The results will be in a written report that will be emailed within 24 hours of the completion of the exam. You will not know the results before you leave due to quality control.
Examinees should allow for a minimum of 1.5-2 hours to complete the process from the start of the appointment. Pregnant individuals will not be tested. Examinees found to be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs including marijuana/THC will not be tested. If anyone is found to be pregnant and/or shows any evidence of being under the influence including strong odor of marijuana and alcohol, they will not be tested and the deposit and fee will be forfeited. Only the examinee and examiner may be in the room.
The person undergoing the exam must agree to the exam. The person undergoing the exam will specify with whom the results can be shared. For private exams, the person paying for the exam understands that the person undergoing the exam will specify to whom the results may be released. No threats can be made to compel anyone to undergo a polygraph examination. If at the time of the exam, the person does not wish to take the exam and/or advises threats were made toward them to undergo the exam, the exam will not be conducted and the fee will be forfeited.
In the days before the exam, please do not discuss the issue or argue about the issue before the exam. This can cause undue stress on the person undergoing the exam. All questions will be reviewed with the person before undergoing the polygraph examination; there will be no surprise questions. Professional counseing is highly recommended for those dealing with personal or relationship issues. Do not make any life-altering decisions based solely on the results of a polygraph exam.
